Tymon Family Website...........

This site has been developed by me (Shaun Tymon) and is all about the Tymon family history. It aims to help discover more about that history by providing a contact point for everyone interested in the subject. If you have an interest in the Tymon family, whether or not you are actually a "Tymon" then please contact me and hopefully enjoy the site.

Please post any comments or questions on the Bulletin Board page. Thanks. Have a look at the new biographies page too.

This website is mainly based on research of the line of the Tymon family which stretches from 18th Century Ireland through seven generations to 20th Century Scarborough, but many other branches of the family appear at various stages. The story, which is still unfolding, if at an ever slower rate, is the result of twenty years of research and the help of many people.

Special thanks go to my cousin Chris Vaughan for starting my interest in the subject, Edith

Lancaster, Agnes Clara Tymon (Mitchell), Joseph Tymon, Chris Tymon, Maggy Fielden, Ann Newsome, Jack Laverack and also to long distance suppliers of information James Brown and Joan Swaney from the United States of America both of whom have Tymon’s amongst their ancestors.

Much of the information relating to the 1840s onwards has been gathered at the Scarborough library as the Tymon family has been in the Scarborough area since that time and records are therefore quite good. Unfortunately research covering times prior to that period has been much more difficult due to the destruction by fire of many Irish records.

Latterly I have received an immense amount of help from my friends on the website RootsChat which provides free information and advice on all aspects of genealogy.
